Our story

Our story

We built Froste for the 3am flip.

Not for people who run cold and fancy a novelty pillow. For people who run hot: through the night, through a heatwave, through a stretch of life where sleep has stopped being straightforward. This is why Froste exists, and what we're honest about along the way.

01. Where this started

Some people just run hot.

Not everyone gets to just fall asleep and stay asleep.

Some of us wake at 2 or 3am already too warm, hunting across the pillow for a cooler patch that isn't there. Some of us deal with night sweats that soak through the pillowcase and leave us peeling off pyjamas at an hour when nobody wants to be awake. Some of us just sleep hot, every night, all year round, regardless of season or duvet weight.

We looked at what was already out there for this and mostly found the same thing: a gel pad or a cooling insert stitched inside a cover. It feels genuinely cold for the first five or ten minutes. Then it reaches your body heat, same as any other pillow, and you're back to flipping it. A short burst of relief, not a night of it.

Froste started as a fairly plain question: what if the cooling wasn't a pad you had to keep recharging, but was simply woven into the fabric itself, so there was nothing to run out?

02. What ice-silk actually is

Cooling woven in, not stuck on.

Our pillowcases are knitted from an ice-silk viscose and spandex blend, at a 400 thread count. There's no gel, no liquid insert, no pack to keep in the freezer. The fibre itself is what pulls heat away from your skin on contact, and what moves moisture off the surface as you sleep, so you're not lying in a damp patch by the middle of the night.

Because the cooling is part of the weave rather than an add-on, it doesn't have a charge to lose. It works the same at 2am as it does when you first lie down, and it works the same after fifty washes as it does out of the packet.

Cool, not cold. A pillowcase, not a fridge.

We'd rather say that plainly than let the marketing get ahead of the fabric. Froste is rated at Q-max 0.35 W/cm², which is the manufacturer's fabric specification for how much heat the material draws from your skin on first contact, the standard measure used across cool-touch textiles. It is not an independent lab test, and we don't claim it as one. It's the figure the mill gives us for this fabric, and it sits comfortably above the level generally used to call a fabric 'cool-touch' at all.

Q-max figure supplied by the fabric manufacturer as part of the material specification. It describes contact-cool on first touch, not a guarantee of temperature all night, and it is not an independently verified lab measurement.

We can't stop a hot flush from happening. That's biology, not fabric, and no pillowcase on earth changes it. What ice-silk can do is keep the surface you're actually sleeping on cooler and drier, so whatever your night throws at you is easier to sleep through and easier to wake up from.
03. What we stand behind

A promise, not a slogan.

Every order comes with our 60-Night Cool Sleep Promise. Sleep on it for up to 60 nights. If it hasn't earned its place on your bed, tell us and we'll refund it, no case to build and nothing to send back.

We put a number that large on it because we're confident in the fabric, not because we need you to feel rushed into buying it. There's no countdown clock on this page and there never will be. If Froste is right for you, sixty nights is plenty of time to find out. If it isn't, that's a genuinely fair trade for both of us.

  • 01

Say what the fabric does, not what we wish it did

Cool, dry, all night. Not a cure for anything, and we won't pretend otherwise.

  • 02

Back it with time, not pressure

Sixty nights to decide. No countdowns, no manufactured urgency.

  • 03

Built to be washed, not babied

A hidden zip, reinforced stitching, and a knit that's meant for weekly laundry, not fridge shelves.

Our promise to you

If you run hot at night, we built this for you.

Cool to the touch, dry through the night, and backed by sixty nights to prove it on your own pillow.
